Default Supporting local small businesses, without hurting the wallet.?

I usually get my lunch at IGA ( a local grocery store) and spend about $5 for a healthy lunch, but lately after switching assignments at work, I am near a lot of small bistros. I would like to have lunch at these places but it would be more like $12 a day. I know its only lunch and a few dollars, but I find it hard to accept as I have very ambishous financial goals.

It's also more than lunch too. There's boutique kids stores and all that. I am a business owner and I know how important it is to have local support.

Any suggestion as to how to balance spending localy and spending at chain stores.

What do you do.

I have always found it very good marketing to spend as much time in each place getting to know the employees and maximize your time when eating at each staying as long as possible . When you leave make sure to talk about your business, leave cards ect. The next visit through see who remembers you and then narrow it down to those places.Get to know them even better and continue to market your business if no one after a bit seems able or interested to spend in your business start to bring your lunch as if your spending is not paying off that's roughly 200.00a month on lunch brown bag it and spend the savings on advertising. Make sure you keep on track with your goals you very smart good question . Hope this helps some.
