with a family and car? If one has a job in the US with earning of 48000 US dollars. Can this help him/her with a family of 2 and also a big car and house. in New york or colorado?

gotta stay away from the big cities and suburbs. 48K is a NICE living when you live in a town or city with a population less than 25k. Take my word for it. The problem is its hard to commute to the nice paying jobs from a small town

Definitley not in New York. My hubby and I make a combined total of 100k, we own a townhouse and 2 cars. We are comfortable, but I know once kids come along that will probably change. Its horrible. I know people who make more with a family and its like a struggle. Granted many people live above their means, but if you plan on owning a home figure that the medium home prices on Long Island are 350K, and thats not even anything great. In Manhatten, forget about it, you wont be able to survive. Even Upstate has gotten expensive. Im not sure about Colorado. Good Luck.
BTW Gas prices in New York are currently $3.30 a gallon.....
it just cost us 550 dollars to fill up our oil tank, and our taxes are 4k a year......and THATS for a townhouse.....most people have taxes above 6k......
