I never give my dog dried food, but he does eat human food with dog meat pouches. He loves simple pasta, rice, chicken, flaked fish (certain of no bones), plenty of vegetables and a little fruit, but no onions, grapes, raisins, or foods with sugar or salt.
My vet always comments about what fantastic condition he's in, slim and muscular, very glossy thick coat and bright eyes. It works and isn't expensive - he just has some of what we have - or the bits we don't like, such as potato skins from baked potatoes - loves 'em! I think he benefits from a varied and interesting diet that isn't horribly over-processed second-grade ingredients.
